The annual Thomson Reuters Customer Appreciation Event held during the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) annual meeting and conference will be at the renowned Library of Congress on July 15.

Dr. Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress, will deliver a brief keynote on the importance of public access to justice and legal information.

Attendees will be able to absorb the history and offerings of one of the most magnificent and diverse collections in the world, network with colleagues, and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while classical string quartets regale. It will be a special evening for mingling with colleagues while reveling in one of the most iconic institutions honoring the value of information.

The Library of Congress is full of history, tales and various collections. One particularly relevant is the Law Library of Congress, the largest law library in the world, which holds more than 3 million volumes, including U.S. congressional publications dating back to the nation’s founding. Additional impressive figures from the storied Library of Congress include:

  • Receives approximately 15,000 items and adds more than 10,000 items to its collections each working day
  • Holds the papers of 23 presidents
  • Includes a Gutenberg Bible, a 15th-century work that is one of only three perfect copies on vellum in the world
  • Contains the largest collection of comic books – more than 140,000 items representing 12,000 titles
