Top 20 UK Law Firm Brands
Pinsent Masons is the top UK law firm of 2021, according to the UK Law Firm Brand Index. Compiled annually by Thomson Reuters, the 2021 index saw considerable reshuffling of the top brands.
Eversheds Sutherland rose this year to second place, and Slaughter and May ranked third, jumping seven spots from 2020. Linklaters also rose this year to take fourth, while CMS dropped from first place in 2020 to tie for fifth with Herbert Smith Freehills.
Climbing back into the top 10 this year was Baker McKenzie. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Clifford Chance and DLA Piper also ranked in the top 10 but fell from their 2020 rankings.
The UK Law Firm Brand Index reflects which firms are upper-most in clients’ minds. It’s based on data compiled from Sharplegal, a market research study of the global legal market across 55 countries with over 2,000 senior in-house counsel, as well as 259 interviews that were conducted with senior legal buyers in the UK. It also takes into account the views of 144 non-UK-based senior legal buyers who were asked which firms they used for their UK-based legal needs.
