Thomson Reuters joins Minnesota Twins in celebrating Armed Forces Appreciation Day
It was a perfect summer day in Minneapolis this past Sunday when Thomson Reuters sponsored the 10th annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day with the Minnesota Twins. Veterans and active service members from all five branches of the U.S. military were honored during a pre-game ceremony and throughout the afternoon during the Twins’ tilt with the Kansas City Royals.
Thomson Reuters donated 1,000 tickets to active and retired members of the U.S. military and their families. Rick King, chief operating officer, Technology, also participated in the ceremonies and greeted service members and their families. “It’s an honor to meet the heroes and their families who sacrifice so much for our country,” said King. “Today’s event is just a small way for Thomson Reuters to support an important part of our community.”
Thomson Reuters employee Susan Reed and her husband Tim, a U.S. Army veteran, threw out the ceremonial first pitch in honor of their son, Sgt. Christian Reed, who is currently serving in Afghanistan with the Minnesota National Guard 34th Red Bulls Infantry Division.
As a Yellow Ribbon Company, Thomson Reuters looks at the ranks of the United States Armed Forces as a key source of talent. The business actively recruits and hires veterans and reservists; offers a generous military leave policy that allows service personnel to retain pay and benefits while serving our nation; and through the Veterans Employee Resource Group, offers a support system for service members and their families.
With the Fourth of July upon us, Thomson Reuters thanks its armed forces colleagues for their service, leadership and contribution to Thomson Reuters and our community.
