Sustainability is fundamental to the law
Many people may not associate the law as being relevant to sustainability. On Thomson Reuters sustainability, we see it as fundamental. Abuse of basic human rights is at least as damaging to the long term stability and prosperity as almost any form of environmental damage. How well we take care of each other, and codify that care, is core to sustainability.
An example of the front lines in this ongoing struggle can be seen in today’s “Girl Summit,” hosted by the UK Government. The summit is about creating a call-to-action for ending the horrific abuse of girls and young women, specifically in the forms of female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage.
