Hundreds of legal and financial professionals convened recently in the Washington, D.C., area for SYNERGY2022, a Legal Professionals user conference. The event is part of the Legal Professional’s 150-year tradition of innovation and partnership with customers.

The conference included hundreds of Elite and HighQ customers, and the focus was on how Thomson Reuters can help them better use technology to drive efficiencies, optimize profitability, digitize labor-intensive processes, and reduce risk.

Highlights included a keynote address from Frank Abagnale, the international cybercrime and fraud prevention consultant who was portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2002 movie Catch Me if You Can.

Spontaneous Think Tank

Also notable was a panel on government sanctions. Andrea Shalal, Reuters White House/economics correspondent, led the discussion with panelists Michael Dawson, partner, WilmerHale; Lakshmi Kumar, policy director, Global Financial Integrity; and Jim Mullinax, director of Sanctions Policy and Implementation, Department of State. And keynote speaker Brett Culp shared insights on embracing change, empowering others, and innovating.

The agenda also included roadmaps for 3E, eBilling Hub, and HighQ. And the Spontaneous Think Tank with Thomson Reuters Labs sparked customer feedback and ideas around AI as well as on how Thomson Reuters can strengthen its partnership with customers.

A special moment was the night at the museum. Attendees enjoyed an evening at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and Legal Professionals President Paul Fischer gave a toast to the 150th anniversary of the business. Read his reflections on connecting with customers.
