Nominations are now open for the 2017 William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award, which recognizes distinguished bankruptcy judges. The 11th annual award, created by Thomson Reuters and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), honors a bankruptcy judge whose career embodies the same dedication to the insolvency community as did that of the award’s namesake, former bankruptcy judge and longtime West author William L. Norton, Jr.

The award is presented at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) annual meeting in Las Vegas on Oct. 8-11, 2017 to a judge who has distinguished him or herself as an educator, writer or scholar, and is selected from a pool of nominees by a committee of six outstanding bankruptcy attorneys. Thomson Reuters presents a commemorative plaque to the recipient and donates $10,000 to the ABI Endowment for Education in the recipient’s name.
