The CLOC Institute recently held its annual conference in Las Vegas where numerous legal operations professionals gathered to network, learn best-practices and continue their education.

Thomson Reuters participated on panels and our own David Curle, Bernadette Bulacan, Ellen Nendorf and Jennifer Brown, managing editor of Canadian Lawyer InHouse and Law Times, attended the conference and shared their insights with the Legal Executive Institute blog.

Brown recapped a Q&A session that featured author and legal futurist Richard Susskind and a panel titled “What Gets Measured: Legal Ops and Law Firms Aligning and Sharing Metrics.” You also can read her coverage of Bulacan’s talk on the influx of millennials in law departments here. Curle covered a session focusing on “Practical Applications of AI in Today’s Law Department” and noted the panel discussed that there are many applications for AI, but one panelist provided a golf analogy to “focus on your swing, not the tools.”

Additionally, Curle’s recap of his panel looking at alternative legal service providers (ALSPs) can be read here.
