Two heads are better than one. This aphorism has been displayed by two legal entities recently announcing their collaboration to provide legal professionals with important programs and educational resources.

Thomson Reuters announced that they will partner with the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) to broaden content offerings for Certified Legal Manager (CLM)sm and continuing legal education (CLE) accredited programs through West LegalEdcenter.

This partnership will begin in 2014 with collaborative efforts to expand the list of program topics that will meet CLM and CLE accreditation standards, addressing topics from healthcare reform to financial management. The expanded content and programming will be available to West LegalEdcenter and ALA subscribers.

“Building on our collaborative relationship with Thomson Reuters, this initiative with West LegalEdcenter and Beyond the Bar aligns with our mission to promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal professionals,” said Oliver Yandle, executive director, ALA. “In alignment with our goals and mission, ALA members and their firms will benefit by having quality, relevant and wide-ranging programs to meet their professional requirements and effectively provide programming for all legal professionals in an efficient approach.”

“Continuing legal education is a key component to the development of legal professionals and the Certified Legal Manager certification program created by ALA provides legal administrators an important development path and credentials to acknowledge their understanding of their role,” said Lee Ann Enquist, vice president of Professional Development, Thomson Reuters. “Our relationship with ALA will allow us to provide online access to the largest and most current library of live and on-demand programs for CLE as well as incorporate ALA’s CLM programming to this membership that is so motivated to learn and grow professionally.”

Through ALA’s Value in Partnership (VIP) program, ALA members will receive discounts on subscriptions to West LegalEdcenter and Beyond the Bar.
