Thomson Reuters today has been awarded a new multi-year contract from the Internal Revenue Service as the primary enterprise-wide provider of online legal and tax research. As many as 20,000 IRS professionals across the agency’s multiple divisions will have access to WestlawNext and WestlawNext Tax augmented by integrated content from Thomson Reuters Checkpoint.

The solutions will help them research tax laws around enforcement actions; identify relevant statutes, codes, treatises, and other documents for policy advisory purposes; and search cases to develop briefs to support the agency in legal actions. It will also assist the agency in conducting a full analysis of a tax return, whether part of the audit process, collection process, or assistance process.
