In just one week, a team of FindLaw employees created and launched a new website for the Minneapolis-based nonprofit Global Rights for Women. The site was part of FindLaw’s Web Plunge Coding for Charity program.

Global Rights for Women is dedicated to promoting human rights, with a focus on achieving legal reform to eliminate violence against women and girls. The organization is currently working with partners in Armenia, Morocco, Russia, Lithuania, Serbia and Turkey on a variety of initiatives, including trainings for legal professionals and law enforcement.

FindLaw provided website design, host setup, custom content and search engine optimization, as well as an ongoing marketing plan and WordPress training, so that the organization can maintain the site and build its web presence. The new site, www.globalrightsforwomen.org, features a modern custom design, interactive projects page, events calendar, blog and donation payment processing.

“The end result is a beautiful website that not only effectively represents our work, but also conveys the larger vision of Global Rights for Women,” said Cheryl Thomas, executive director of Global Rights for Women. “We continually hear from donors and partners alike how exceptional our website is and it has allowed us to reach a more diverse audience. We really cannot thank the whole FindLaw team enough.”

The Web Plunge Coding for Charity program has provided pro bono website services to five charity organizations since it began in the summer of 2014. This year, the program was streamlined to cut down the project time to just one week.  FindLaw employees are excited by the opportunity to help the nonprofits thrive while building unique skills in the process. Working on the sites often allows developers, designers, writers and digital marketers to experiment with new techniques and technologies that may later benefit FindLaw customers.

“I feel accomplished and fortunate to have been a part of bringing this website to life this week. I think that supporting this important cause really shows our company’s commitment to the global community,” said Heidi Larson, senior content strategist for FindLaw.

The team was able to achieve their one-week completion goal largely due to their close proximity to one another (team members brushed elbows all week), frequent communication with representatives from Global Rights for Women and a steady supply of pizza and donuts.
