It’s that time of year again – summer is dwindling, there is a chill in the air, kids are getting ready to head back to school…and legal industry professionals are flocking to Las Vegas for the annual International Legal Technology Association conference (ILTA)!

ILTA 2013: The Catalyst is a four-day educational conference with over 200 peer-developed sessions, networking opportunities and tons of vendors. To kick things off, Elisabet Hardy, vice president of Product Management for Thomson Reuters Elite, sat down with Legal Current to talk about a major new product Elite is launching at ILTA.

According to Hardy, business development and marketing is top of mind for clients, given that growth in the legal space is not what it used to be. In order to grow, law firms are looking at new ways of expanding, whether that is geographically or by introducing a new practice of law. In order to do that, business development is more important than ever.

To help facilitate that need, Elite is launching a new business development platform: Business Development Premier. “We’ve taken a look at turning technology into working for you versus you working for the technology,” said Hardy. “At Thomson Reuters, we have a unique precision in that we can combine technology with ease-of-use functionality, as well as all the content and market data that we already have. When you go to one single place, you can connect those dots within that platform without having to jump around to multiple offerings. We think that is going to change how our current clients and our future clients do business development.”
